Downloaded 90% of a big file and you need to shut down the system because you are going out but still want to continue the download on the go? Or the download was simply interrupted due some connectivity problems? Well, that's quite depressing and may encourage you to go out and suicide instead of starting it all afresh but don't worry as there is a workaround and all you need is just Firefox browser for whatever platform(s) you are going to implement this on.
Yes, people suggest IDM, Flashgot , DownThemAll! etc but IDM is not free, and flashgot and downthemall are not good at handling dynamic download links.
This works Windows,Linux or Android and is cross-platform i.e A partially downloaded file in windows can be moved to your android phone and resumed like a charm! This works vice versa also and any other combination you can think of. And if you want to resume on same platform you can do that also. This works with sites providing dynamic download link but the catch is that the server supports resume.
This method works on Mozilla Firefox and whole of its family including Tor. And the best part is it is as simple as renaming a file and a few clicks. All that has to be done is to just follow these few steps below.

- While downloading a file take a note of file-name and the location where you are going to save the download. By default the file goes to <DriveLetter>:\Users\<User>\Downloads.
- Pause the download before closing the browser so that no warnings pop up.This works even if the download was interrupted due to some error browser was killed from task manager or the process was terminated automatically by a shutdown or restart.
- Navigate to the directory where the download was saved. Spot a file with the same name with an extra .part extension and rename it.
[Tip: Add an OLD prefix in the filename.] - Move the file to your Android phone or Linux system. If you do not want to move and just leave it there and perform the steps ahead on the same platform.
- Open Firefox browser on the device where you have moved the file onto. Go to the download page again, start the download, save to the same location where the previous file was saved and pause the download.
- Navigate to the same directory again and delete the new .part file.
- Rename the old file back to its original.
[Remove the OLD prefix]. - Resume the download and it starts downloading from where it was left off .
